Whats Been Happening At Sydney Rigging Specialists
It is now entering August and the start of the Northern Series of races here in Australia. The first event the Sydney to Gold Coast Race has just been completed, with the Cookson 50 "Quantum Racing" achieving the line and handicap double. The series continues with the Brisbane to Keppel Race, then Airlie Beach Race week followed by Hamilton Island Race week. Yachts rigged by Sydney Rigging Specialists will be competing in all events.
Craig Garnett has returned to work for Sydney Rigging Specialists in the role of "Custom Project Co-ordinator". Craig has spent the last two and a half years working on the Ichi Ban programme looking after Farr 40s and a Volvo 70. The role of Craig as "Custom Project Co-ordinator" is be able to provide our custom projects with even more support in the design, specification, manufacture and commissioning of custom rigging packs. Craig is also responsible for keeping all our production boats (such as Farr 40s, M30s, Sydney Yachts) cut sheets updated with any changes that may be made.
Custom Projects that we have made rigging for so far in 2008 are: Moneypenny (Reichel Pugh ST65), Team Green (Irish Volvo Campaign) and Alfa Jnr (Reichel Pugh 69). All these boats have been commissioned outside Australia and Sydney Rigging Specialists have provided a rigger during the commission process. We have also provided all the halyards and cordage to the new Secret Mens Business (Reichel Pugh 47) recently launched in Melbourne.
Re-supply orders of rigging have gone to many boats including Rosebud, Alfa Romeo 98, Wild Oats 66, Wild Joe, Black Jack and recently we have shipped new halyards and sheets to a 150' Superyacht "Blue Gold".
The production yacht side of things has seen the new Beneteau 45 arrive in Australia, we have been involved in the commissioning process of Ray Harriss' new boat. It will be interesting to see how this boat performs in its' race debut at Hamilton Island Race Week. So far this year we have done three rigging kits for Marten 49s, these boats using a running rigging kit from Sydney Rigging Specialists that is based around a base colour of grey, it looks very smart.
With Sydney Rigging Specialists aquiring more space in the factory we have been doing some renovations upstairs with a bit more office space and the addition of storage area and a new 30 tonne 14m long stretch bed. The extra area has certainly made life a bit easier.
Until next time. Good Luck
Cheers
